The Great Outdoors August 14, 2019 By Webmaster Maximilian the bull was ready to charge his own reflection in the window while Max the dog got a closer look. The photo was taken by Virginia Lynn near Harpster. Higher temperatures aren’t only hard on people, they’re hard on animals, too. “August 8 was a very hot, dry day here on the ranch, and a herd of 20 or more cow and calf elk cooled off in one of our small ponds, one that is barely keeping enough water in it for the frogs. It was fun to watch them cool off and play in the mud and water. This time they were within a few feet of the house. We need more rain to keep water for the wild animals. It is always fun to see them here,” reports photographer Dixie Lynn near Harpster.
