William Thomas Shearer, recently of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away on Independence Day, July 4, 2019 at the age of 82. He was born on July 17, 1936 to Elda and Edith Shearer in a home near Craigmont, Idaho.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo. He is survived by his daughter, Tina Shearer Waters (husband Bruce) and son Tim Shearer (wife Terri), seven grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Bill was very proud of all his family, including his ancestors and his posterity.
Bill has fond memories of his childhood in Harpster and at the McComas Meadows. Some of the things he loved were the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, square dancing, and especially traveling. He worked as an electrician, which took him to California, Idaho, Washington, and Montana. Cleo always said he had “itchy feet!”
Bill was a very outgoing, social man who never met a stranger. Through his travels with his wife, Cleo, after his retirement, he made many friends all over the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. In these travels, they visited 49 of the 50 States. He said the reason it wasn’t all 50 was because he couldn’t drive his RV to Hawaii.
Bill was laid to rest beside Cleo at the Harpster Cemetery on July 8. He will be dearly missed by his family, but is having a joyful reunion on the Other Side.
