Many enjoyed the fun filled Chief Lookingglass Pow-wow weekend, “Dancing under the Stars.” Here is a little history behind the Chief Lookingglass Pow-wow Parade. Back in the early ’70’s our Lookingglass respected elders, Edna Thomas, Delores L. Wheeler, and Edith L. Strombeck won $25 cash during a local parade.
After meetings with other Lookingglass descendants, the decision was made to host a Friendship Feast and Pow-wow commemorating the Nez Perce War of 1877. With the $25 parade prize and many fundraisers, the Chief Lookingglass Pow-wow began! That is why the Chief Lookingglass Pow-wow hosts a parade during the pow-wow! Now you know the rest of the story!
Several enjoyed the Huckleberry Pancake Pow-wow breakfast made with huckleberries graciously donated by Dewayne and Amy Ellenwood and Ida Ann Wheeler (Granny Annie). Our elders taught us to feed our visitors and always have plenty of food, and we certainly did! The list of winners during the pow-wow are below:
