Alice Louise Eldridge, the daughter of Oatha and Eva (Deese) Long, was born Dec. 16, 1929 in Quinter, Kan. Her childhood years were spent in Kansas, where she received her education graduating from Quinter High School. After high school, she continued her education at State Teacher’s College in McPherson, Kan. receiving her associate’s degree in education. She later moved to Payette, Idaho and continued her education for nursing.
Alice married C. Ray Eldridge on April 29, 1951 in Weiser, Idaho. After their marriage they moved to Marble Mount, Wash. and raised their family until 1971. They then moved to Kamiah until their retirement in 1996. After retirement they moved to Dickens, Iowa to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Alice was always active in her community. She was a talented quilter, seamstress, and loved to crochet. She enjoyed dancing, singing, playing guitar and most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She passed away peacefully at her home in Spencer, Iowa on Monday, Aug. 13, 2018 at the age of 88. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; two brothers; one great-grandchild, Effie Claire Eldridge; and her husband, Ray in 1998.
Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Raejean Noah and her husband, John of Terril, Iowa, and Jim Eldridge of Spencer; her grandchildren Raeonna Sikora (Mark) of Ruthven, Iowa, Drew Eldridge (Leaha) of Spencer, Brayden Eldridge (Christy) of Dickens, Katie Noah of Waterloo, Iowa, and Becky Noah of Terril; eight great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and many friends.
Services will be held Friday, Aug. 17, at 11 a.m. at Warner Chapel in Spencer with Pastor Brad Wallace officiating.
Private interment will be at Dickens Cemetery in Dickens. Arrangements are under the direction of Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
