The Kamiah Joint School District #304 held its monthly board meeting on Monday which was well attended by not only staff members but several community members as well.
The main item on the agenda was the yearly audit report given by John Goffinet from Goffinet and Clack, CPA out of Orofino.
A breakdown of Total Fund Balances as of June 30, 2017 is as follows:
General Fund: $74,462
Federal Forest Funds: $371,624
Debt Service: $80,212
Medicaid Fund: $123,069
Governmental Funds: $86,963
A total of those funds combined is $316,276 which is what is left at the end of the school year to start the next school year. (The full financial report can be found on page 11.)
Considering the fact that the previous year fund balance was $858,387 (a difference of $542,111), the board is considering the option of running a supplemental levy and in doing so, directed Superintendent Steve Higgins to begin the process of a needs assessment and cost analysis.
More information on the progress of the levy discussion will be provided at the next month board meeting on Nov. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Kamiah High School Library.
