Patricia Ann (Burleigh) Micka passed away Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at Wallowa Memorial Hospital located in Enterprise, Ore. Pat was a caring and loving individual who will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Pat was born on Dec. 11, 1943, in Klamath Falls, Ore. to Robert and Marjorie Burleigh. The family resided on a 320-acre ranch between Klamath Falls and Merrill, Ore. She grew up almost like an only child as her older brother, Bobby, was 12 years older than her.
Pat was an active child as she participated in ballet, tap dancing, acrobats and swimming. Her favorite was ballet.
Pat graduated from Merrill High School in 1962. In school she was actively involved in many clubs and organizations as follows: annual staff, paper staff, music, state speech, speech club, pep club, 4-H, Theta Rho and the Elks Panel. Her senior year she was voted, “Most Likely to Succeed.”
Her hobbies included going swimming, dancing, reading, listening to music and spending time with friends. She continued to enjoy these hobbies throughout her years.
After high school she attended Southern Oregon State College located in Ashland, Ore. She had planned on pursuing a career as an elementary education teacher.
A year prior to attending college, she met Jerry Eugene Micka on a blind date. The couple married on June 24, 1963 at the First Presbyterian Church in Weiser, Idaho. Following the marriage, they returned and purchased their first farm together in Malin, Ore., which had been the original farm of Joseph Micka (Jerry’s grandfather). The family later moved to Enterprise, to raise their children.
Pat worked at the Pioneer Guest Home for 13 years as the administrator and provided for her family. She and Jerry later moved to Kamiah. While in Kamiah she owned and operated The Country Patch Gift and Health Food Store for more than 15 years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafts, cooking and oil painting. Her true joy was spending time with her family which she cherished as she was a very loving wife and mother.
Pat will be remembered by her loved ones for her love of animals (her Siamese cats), laughter, hugs, beaming smile and kindness toward others. She never met a stranger or let someone go without as she was always giving and kind.
