The Kamiah High School gym will be open as an option for kids with free time on their hands on July 14.
In an effort to fill a much-needed void of a safe place to frequent and programming for the teens in our community, UYLC Youth Advisory Board (YAB) and the Kamiah After-School Program (KAP) are hosting two free Open Gym events.
•From 6-8 p.m. K-7th grade youth and their families are welcome. Come on down for a free, healthy family friendly event, and remember “Families Who Play Together, Stay Together.”
•From 8:30-11 p.m. is open to all 8th-12th grade age teens. There will be organized games and competitions.
This event is part of a larger effort by the UYLC YAB. Through focused discussions, they determined that there were not enough healthy and safe activities for their peers in the community. They presently offer one activity per month, with an eye on providing activities every weekend.
This active group of community minded youth has formed partnerships and applied for grants to achieve this goal. They welcome new partnerships, feedback, and ideas; they can be contacted at Upriverylc@gmail.com.
