Cleo Richard (Dick) Bovey passed away April 13, 2017 after a short, difficult battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 82.
Dick was the second child, of Cleo Oscar and Elsie Dean (Huggins) Bovey. He was born on July 9, 1934. He completed high school in Kamiah where he met his wife Phyllis. They were married July 23, 1955.
He worked for Potlatch Forests, then joined the Army for two years. His daughter Andria was born at Ft. Ord in 1958. After returning, son Michael was born in 1960.
Dick and Phyllis owned and operated Dick’s Drive-In for seven years in Kamiah. After that he was employed by the Idaho Department of Lands, followed by a few years working for Clearwater Potlatch Timber Protective Association.
After retirement and until his death, Dick was a volunteer for the U.S. Forest Service. He collected water samples from parks.
Since 1998 Dick and Phyllis spent time during the winter in Yuma, Ariz. Dick loved to visit and tell stories and host get-togethers. He will always be missed by his wife of 61 years; his daughter Andria, son Mike, daughter-in-law Cindy (Ulmer), grandchildren McKenzie and Shayla, brother Ralph, sister-in-law Kaye, his nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.
No service will be held. The family requests that any remembrances be made to the American Cancer Society.
