[The] Lord… [has] searched me and known me! [He] know(s) when I sit down and when I rise up; [He] discern(s) my thoughts from afar… and [is] acquainted with all my ways. Where shall I go from [His] Spirit? Or where shall I flee from [His] presence? For He knows the secrets of the heart. Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.” If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. As it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him. For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. Though He was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
